Much loved by the 19th century aristocracy and a host of artists, including Claude Monet, this will be our base for exploring this vibrant region, aptly known, as the Riviera of Flowers.

Last, but by no means least is Bordighera Alta – the Old Town – sitting high above the harbour with an imposing fortress style arched pedestrian entrance. Inside you will find winding narrow streets full of ancient architecture and cupolas, beautiful churches, and charming piazzas full of authentic restaurants and bars - traditional Italian charm at it’s very best.
On this tour, we will also explore the beautiful Mediaeval town of Dolceacqua and visit the splendid Giardini Botanici Hanbury. We will also enjoy shopping and exploring the nearby town of San Remo, famous for its annual music festival.
You will also have to option to attend a wine tasting at the award winning Terre Bianche Vineyard.
For these tours, our guests will be staying in the magnificent Villa Garnier, designed by the renowned architect Charles Garnier, also famed for designing the Casino in Monte Carlo, just along the coast.
This elegant building on three floors boasts a small chapel, many splendid frescos and works of art and the luxuriant botanical gardens, home to a whole variety of Mediterranean plants, are a relaxing place to unwind after a busy day.
Join us as we explore Bordighera’s 2 kilometre promenade with its selection of beach bars and restaurants - affluent yet inviting - and the venue for the popular weekly traditional market. The delightful little romanesque church at Saint-Ampelio, dating back to the 15th century, the Pallanca Exotic Gardens, and the Villa Regina Margherita, built as the Winter Residence for Queen Margherita of Savoy. Not forgetting, Corso Italia, a pretty and lively street, with all the expected attractions of tea houses, restaurants, boutiques, and not surprisingly the very best in Italian gelato.
