If you wish to travel on your own we are also happy to plan and organise a bespoke cultural tour where we will do all the bookings and arrangements but you can then travel alone.

ART, FOOD & WINE TOUR OF PIEDMONT (26th Sept - 1st Oct 2021)

Join us in this exciting tour of Piedmont, which is the most regal of Italian regions as this was the home of the Savoy family, the kings of Italy.  On this tour you will see how Piedmont royal character is reflected in the wealth of castles and Turin’s elegant streets and piazzas.  We will also take you on a wine expedition when we will enjoy some of most famous Piedmont wines, with Barolo, Barbaresco and Gavi being the most famous. We will also explore Alba, the city of truffles, taste the many cheeses of the area and visit the chocolate shops, for which Turin is famous. Finally, you will have a cookery lesson when you will learn to prepare local specialities.

On the first night we will stay in Turin and explore its Royal Palace and historical coffee houses and bars.  There will be the possibility to have a chocolate tasting experience and have the option to visit the Egyptian museum, the best after Cairo since the Savoy family were keen collectors of Egyptian antiquities. Alternatively, you will be able to have time on your own visiting Turin elegant shops.  

We will then spend the following four days in the Langhe area of Piedmont, which is famous for its landscape of undulating hills covered by vineyards. The timing of this tour is not casual as at this time of the year Autumn colours make this landscape extra special and a photographer’s paradise! During our stay in the Langhe we will visit stunning castles and Alba, the town renowned for truffles. We will also go on a day long wine tour and have a cookery lesson with a renowned chef when we will cook a three course dinner which we will then enjoy.  

Accommodation

  • First night in a 4 star hotel in Turin

  • Four nights stay at a 4 star hotel in the Langhe. This hotel used to be a historical building and retains elegant features and a vaulted restaurant with a built in theatre.

  • Sunday 4th October – Turin walking tour, Palazzo Reale Visit, Chocolate tasting experience

  • Sunday night transfer to 4 star hotel in the Langhe area of Piedmont

  • Mon 5th Oct wine tour of Barolo and Barbaresco, wine tasting in two vineyards and visit of the most picturesque location of the Langhe – bring your camera with you if you wish!

  • Tue 6th Castello di Monticello visit and cookery class. Dinner in ‘Il Teatro’ restaurant.

  • Wed 7th  Visit of the city of Alba and Grinzane Cavour castle.

  • Thu 8th  return to London
